EQS stands for ‘external quality support’ and is Highfield’s term for external verifiers. Our EQS
department arranges and carries out quality assurance engagements on behalf of the awarding
organisation. This may include sampling learner work and assessment decisions, observing
assessments and attending standardisation meetings. EQS responsibilities also include
confirming that a centre is abiding by its own internal quality assurance policies as well as our
own policies and procedures. The EQS department is here to help Highfield centres and will offer
guidance on how to improve compliance and, when necessary, set action points for the centre
to address. EQS can only sample evidence from learners that have been registered with Highfield
and have had all of the units they have undertaken submitted to Highfield in a ‘Notification of
