You may have seen the phrase ‘CPD’ used a lot, but do you know what it actually means? We’ve included everything you need to know about CPD below.
Firstly, CPD stands for continuing/continual professional development. It’s a term that is used to describe ongoing learning activities that professionals participate in to enhance their skills and knowledge, and keep them up to date to aid their training, delivery, assessment and IQA practices.
CPD is usually achieved through a combination of:
- training and CPD events
- conferences
- e-learning programmes and online webinars
- standardisations and best practice sharing
- publications and updates from regulatory bodies
A CPD record should be updated as and when an activity takes place. It is intended to be a proactive exercise to allow an individual to take ownership of their own development.
